On September 25, Volkswagen Group announced a global recall of approximately 2.86 million vehicles due to a steering gear bolt that can corrode and break.
The precautionary measure affects roughly 2.16 million Volkswagen models and nearly 700,000 Audi vehicles.

The specific models involved include the following:
- Volkswagen: Golf, Golf Variant, Tiguan, Touran, and Caddy produced between September 24, 2013, and July 1, 2024.
- Audi: Q3 models manufactured between October 31, 2017, and May 2024.
