iPhone 17 Pro Max Battery Replacement

This repair is necessary when your iPhone 17 Pro Max exhibits shortened runtime, unexpected shutdowns, throttling under heavy workloads, or when Battery Health drops below 80% maximum capacity. Replacing the battery requires opening the rear casing, safely disconnecting sensitive internal flex cables, and releasing the adhesive securing the cell.    Discharge and Power Down

   • Apply gentle, uniform heat (approximately 70°C to 80°C) around the perimeter of the back glass for 2 to 3 minutes using a heat gun or heating mat to soften the factory adhesive.

   • Place a suction handle near the bottom edge of the rear glass and pull upward firmly to create a tiny gap.
   • Insert a thin plastic opening pick no deeper than 3 mm into the seam, then slide it around the perimeter to cut through the adhesive.

   Open the Enclosure

   • Gently pivot the back glass open toward the right side like a book.
   • Support the panel with a clean stand or fixture so the internal sensor and charging flex cables are not subjected to mechanical tension.

   Remove Connector Cowling

   • Use a Tri-point Y000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal shield plate over the logic board connectors.
   • Lift the metal bracket away using non-conductive tweezers.

   Disconnect the Battery and Back Glass

   • Pry the battery connector upward using a plastic spudger to cut all electrical power immediately.
   • Disconnect the rear glass flex cables and move the rear glass assembly away from the workspace.

   Debond the Battery Adhesive

   • If using an electrical debonding method, connect the positive lead to the battery release contact point and the negative lead to a bare metal chassis ground, applying 9V to 12V for 60 to 90 seconds.
   • Alternatively, grasp the stretch-release pull tabs with tweezers and pull slowly at a flat angle to remove the strips.

   Lift the Old Battery

   • Carefully lift the battery out from the chassis tray using a wide plastic pry tool without puncturing or bending the pack.
   • If residual adhesive remains, apply a few drops of 99% isopropyl alcohol around the perimeter to soften the bond.

    • Clean the battery bay thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to remove dirt and leftover glue.
    • Apply fresh pre-cut adhesive strips into the chassis tray or directly to the replacement battery.

    Install and Connect the Replacement Battery

    • Align the replacement battery in the tray and press it firmly into position.
    • Reattach the rear glass flex cables, reconnect the battery terminal to the logic board, and reinstall the metal bracket with its retaining screws.

    Seal the Chassis and Finalize

    • Remove all old gasket residue from the frame edges, apply a new perimeter seal, and press the back glass firmly into place.
    • Reinstall the two P2 Pentalobe screws and power on the device to initiate software calibration through Apple Repair Assistant.
