iPhone 17 Pro Screen Replacement

Step by step

Step 1: Power Down and Prep the Glass
Turn off the iPhone completely before starting any disassembly.
If the front glass has shattered, cover the entire surface with overlapping strips of clear packing tape to maintain suction and keep loose shards contained.

Step 2: Remove Bottom Screws
Use a P2 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two screws flanking the USB-C port at the bottom edge.
Keep these screws isolated in an organizer tray because reinserting screws into incorrect locations can permanently damage internal logic board traces.

Step 3: Heat the Perimeter Adhesive
Apply heat to the edges of the display using a heat mat or heat gun set to 75°C to 80°C for approximately two minutes to soften the factory adhesive.
Keep the heat source moving constantly to avoid overheating the internal lithium-ion battery or the front camera modules.

Step 4: Create an Opening Gap
Fix a suction handle to the lower third of the screen, just above the charge port, and pull up with firm, steady pressure.
As soon as a hairline seam opens between the display bezel and the chassis, insert a thin plastic opening pick no deeper than 2 mm to avoid striking internal components.

Step 5: Slice the Perimeter Seal
Gently guide the opening pick along the bottom edge and up both sides to cut through the water-resistant adhesive barrier.
Never insert your pick deeply along the left side, where the internal flex cables sit.

Step 6: Open the Display
Pivot the display assembly open from the right edge toward the left, opening the phone like a book.
Lean the open screen against a sturdy support block so the display ribbon cables are not bent or strained while you work on the internal connectors.

Step 7: Disconnect the Battery
Remove the screws securing the metal cowl over the battery connector using a Y000 screwdriver, and remove the bracket.
Use the flat edge of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector directly upward from the logic board to immediately cut power to the system.

Step 8: Disconnect Display and Sensor Flex Cables
Unscrew and remove the protective metal bracket covering the display and ambient sensor flex connections.
Carefully pry each connector straight up off its socket using a non-conductive plastic tool, then lift the old screen away from the housing.

Step 9: Transfer Front Sensor Assembly (If Required)
If your new panel does not include a pre-installed front sensor flex, warm the top of the old display to loosen the sensor adhesive.
Lift the sensor ribbon carefully with tweezers and seat it precisely into the alignment pins of the new display assembly.

Step 10: Clean the Frame and Apply New Adhesive
Remove all residual adhesive from the perimeter ledge of the chassis using a spudger and a wipe lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
Once the metal rim is clean and dry, align and adhere a fresh pre-cut water-resistant gasket around the perimeter of the frame.

Step 11: Reconnect Cables and Perform a Test Boot
Snap the screen and sensor connectors onto the motherboard, followed by the battery connector.
Briefly power the iPhone on to verify touch response, True Tone availability, and brightness levels before securing the metal brackets and closing the phone.

Power the device off, reattach all internal metal brackets with their screws, and remove the adhesive backing liners.
Press the screen evenly into the frame until flush, then reinstall the two bottom P2 screws to finish assembly.
