Samsung Galaxy A07 Housing Replacement

Moderate1 to 2 hours9 steps

Is your Samsung Galaxy A07 looking battered, heavily scratched, or cracked along the edges? Replacing the housing is a great way to restore your device to a factory-fresh appearance. This repair involves removing the plastic back panel and transferring the internal components to a new midframe. Expect to handle delicate flex cables and use moderate heat to soften adhesive during the process.

  1. 1

    Power off the device

    • Turn off your Samsung Galaxy A07 completely before starting the repair.
    • Remove the SIM card tray using a SIM eject tool and set it aside to prevent damage to the motherboard during disassembly.
  2. 2

    Heat the back cover

    • Apply heat to the edges of the back cover using a heat gun or iOpener.
    • Keep the heat source moving to avoid melting the plastic panel.
    • This softens the adhesive securing the cover to the frame.
  3. 3

    Slice through the adhesive

    • Apply a suction handle to the lower half of the back cover and pull up gently to create a small gap.
    • Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slide it around the perimeter to cut the adhesive.
    • Leave picks in the corners to prevent the glue from resealing.
  4. 4

    Remove the back cover

    • Once all the adhesive is cut, carefully lift the back cover away from the device.
    • Set it aside in a safe place.
    • Clean any leftover adhesive residue from the edges of the phone using isopropyl alcohol and a spudger.
  5. 5

    Unscrew the midframe

    • Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all the screws securing the plastic midframe and motherboard cover.
    • Keep your screws organized on a magnetic mat so you know exactly where they go during reassembly.
  6. 6

    Detach the midframe

    • Insert a spudger or opening pick between the midframe and the display assembly.
    • Gently pry around the edges to unclip the midframe.
    • Lift it away to expose the motherboard and battery.
  7. 7

    Disconnect the battery

    • Using a plastic spudger, immediately disconnect the battery flex cable from the motherboard.
    • This crucial safety step prevents accidental short circuits while you handle the internal components.
  8. 8

    Transfer internal components

    • Carefully disconnect the display, charging port, and antenna cables.
    • Unscrew and transfer the motherboard, battery, and daughterboard to your new housing.
    • Use isopropyl alcohol to safely loosen the battery adhesive if your new housing does not include a preinstalled battery.
  9. 9

    Reassemble the device

    • Snap the new midframe into place over the transferred components and secure it with the Phillips screws.
    • Apply new precut adhesive to the edges of the housing, reconnect the battery, and press the back cover firmly into place.

FAQ

Will this repair fix a cracked screen?

No, the housing replacement only covers the back panel and the middle frame. If your front glass or display is cracked, you will need to perform a full screen replacement instead.

Do I need to buy a new battery for this repair?

You can reuse your original battery if it still holds a good charge. Just be very careful not to puncture or bend it when prying it out of the old housing.

Is the phone still water resistant after replacing the housing?

The Galaxy A07 has an IP54 rating for basic splash resistance, but opening the device compromises the factory seal. Using high-quality replacement adhesive will help protect against moisture, but you should avoid exposing the phone to liquids after the repair.

What should I do if the back cover will not come off?

Apply a little more heat to the stubborn areas and give the adhesive more time to soften. Never force the plastic cover off, as it can snap and cause injury.
