Samsung Galaxy A08 4G Screen Replacement

Moderate45–60 min12 steps

A shattered front glass, dead pixels, or an unresponsive touch digitizer indicates that your screen assembly needs to be replaced. Installing a fresh 6.7-inch PLS LCD panel restores full display clarity and smooth touch operation to the Samsung Galaxy A08 4G. This repair requires disassembling the rear chassis, removing internal bracket shielding, unplugging power connections safely, and securing the new display to the frame.

Required Tools

  • Heat gun or hot plate
  • Phillips #00 precision screwdriver
  • Plastic opening picks and nylon spudger
  • Suction cup handle
  • Curved precision tweezers
  • SIM card ejector tool
  • B-7000 electronics adhesive or custom pre-cut adhesive film
  • Isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) and lint-free wipes

Step by step

  1. 1

Step 1: Eject the SIM tray

Insert a SIM ejection tool into the pinhole on the upper left rail of the phone.

Press inward firmly until the card tray pops free, then slide it out and store it safely.

  2. 2

Step 2: Soften the rear adhesive

Apply uniform heat around the edges of the back cover using a heat gun set to 70°C for approximately two minutes.

Keep the heat source moving continuously to prevent localized hot spots that can warp the plastic housing.

  3. 3

Step 3: Detach the back cover

Affix a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear panel and pull upward to create a slight seam.

Insert a thin plastic pick into the gap and slice through the adhesive perimeter, releasing the retaining clips around the edges to remove the cover.

  4. 4

Step 4: Remove the midframe screws

Locate and unscrew all visible Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic midframe and motherboard shields.

Keep these screws neatly organized on a magnetic mat, as mixing screw locations can damage delicate components beneath.

  5. 5

Step 5: Pry off the internal midframe

Insert a plastic spudger into the seam separating the midframe from the chassis.

Gently lever the spudger around the perimeter until all internal plastic snap clips disengage, then lift off the midframe piece to expose the motherboard and lower daughterboard.

  6. 6

Step 6: Disconnect the battery connector

Pry up the battery flex cable directly from the mainboard using the edge of a non-conductive plastic spudger.

Disconnecting power immediately protects sensitive motherboard circuitry from unexpected short circuits during repair.

  7. 7

Step 7: Unplug the display flex cable

Locate the wide display ribbon connector routed across the battery cavity to the mainboard.

Use your plastic spudger to lift the connector off its socket, then gently release the cable from the chassis channel.

  8. 8

Step 8: Remove the broken display panel

Heat the front perimeter of the screen assembly to 75°C for three minutes to weaken the factory display glue.

Attach a suction handle, pull upward, and work a plastic pick through the perimeter bond line, carefully feeding the display flex cable out through the frame slot as the old panel lifts away.

  9. 9

Step 9: Clean the chassis rim

Use tweezers and an alcohol-dampened cloth to remove all shards of glass, dust, and dried adhesive residue from the mounting ledge.

The frame surface must be completely flat and pristine, or the new screen will not seat level.

  10. 10

Step 10: Dry-test the replacement screen

Feed the flex cable of the new screen through the frame slot, connect it to the motherboard, and plug the battery back in.

Power on the device to test touch response across the whole display, verify uniform backlighting, and confirm color accuracy before shutting the device off and disconnecting the battery again.

  11. 11

Step 11: Apply adhesive and mount the new screen

Lay a thin, continuous bead of B-7000 adhesive along the frame bezel, taking care to leave the front speaker grille and sensors unobstructed.

Thread the display cable through the slot, align the screen evenly into the frame recess, and apply gentle finger pressure along the edges to seat it properly.

  12. 12

    Step 12: Reassemble the device

Reconnect the display ribbon cable and reconnect the battery terminal.

Snap the plastic midframe back over the logic board, tighten all Phillips screws, apply fresh adhesive to the rear perimeter, reattach the back cover firmly, and slide the SIM tray back into the phone.

Frequently asked questions

No, when replacing a screen-only assembly, the front camera, speaker, and vibration motor remain firmly seated in the phone chassis. You only need to transfer these small sub-components if you are installing a full screen assembly that comes pre-fitted to a new frame.

This usually happens when the display ribbon connector is misaligned or has dust trapped inside the motherboard socket. Disconnect the battery, unseat the display cable, clean the contacts with a dry anti-static brush, and firmly press the connector back into place.

Never use sharp metallic tools near the battery pack, and do not bend or pry against the lithium pouch. Disconnecting the battery terminal should always be your first task before handling any other internal electronics.

Double-check the perimeter for tiny glass fragments or old glue buildup that may be blocking the panel from sitting down. If the metal or plastic chassis suffered bends or dents from the original impact, it must be carefully reshaped; if you encounter difficulties, you can use KRON's contact form.
