Samsung Galaxy A18 4G Screen Replacement

Moderate45–60 min12 steps

A shattered front glass, unresponsive touch digitizer, or black Super AMOLED panel indicates that your Samsung Galaxy A18 4G requires a complete screen replacement. Physical impacts often damage the fragile display layers beneath the glass, rendering the phone unusable even if the underlying motherboard remains fully functional. This guide outlines the procedure to safely disassemble the device, isolate electrical power, and seat a fresh display assembly.

Required Tools

  • Heat gun or temperature-controlled heat mat
  • Phillips #00 precision screwdriver
  • Heavy-duty suction handle
  • Thin plastic opening picks and nylon spudger
  • Curved ESD-safe tweezers
  • High-concentration isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher)
  • Pre-cut frame adhesive strips or B-7000 electronics adhesive
  • Safety glasses

Step by step

  1. 1

Step 1: Power Down and Remove the SIM Tray

Turn off your Galaxy A18 4G completely to prevent accidental short circuits during service.

Insert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the upper side of the chassis, eject the card tray, and set it safely aside.

  2. 2

Step 2: Heat the Rear Cover

Warm the perimeter of the back panel using a heat gun set to approximately 75°C to 80°C for two minutes.

Keep the heat source moving constantly to soften the factory adhesive without scorching the plastic housing.

  3. 3

Step 3: Slice the Perimeter Adhesive

Fasten a suction handle near the lower edge of the back cover and pull upward gently to reveal a slight opening.

Slide a thin plastic pick into the gap, then guide it around all four edges to slice through the adhesive tape.

  4. 4

Step 4: Remove the Rear Panel

Lift the rear cover away from the chassis once all adhesive bonds are released.

If stubborn glue remains, apply a drop of isopropyl alcohol to the pick rather than forcing the cover open.

  5. 5

Step 5: Unscrew the Internal Midframe

Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to extract all securing screws from the inner plastic frame assembly.

Group and organize the screws on a magnetic mat so each fastener returns to its original threaded hole.

  6. 6

Step 6: Detach the Plastic Midframe

Insert a plastic spudger into the seam separating the midframe from the front housing assembly.

Release the perimeter locking tabs with a gentle twisting motion, taking extra care around the side power button so you do not snag the integrated fingerprint flex cable.

  7. 7

Step 7: Disconnect the Battery Cable

Use a non-conductive nylon spudger to pry the battery terminal connector straight off the mainboard socket.

Disconnecting the power source immediately protects sensitive integrated circuits from voltage spikes while you work.

  8. 8

Step 8: Unseat the Display Flex Connector

Locate the display ribbon cable anchored to the lower section of the motherboard.

Gently flip the connector tab upward using your spudger to free the screen circuit from the board.

  9. 9

Step 9: Remove the Damaged AMOLED Panel

Heat the front display at 80°C for two to three minutes to loosen the screen bonding glue.

Place your suction handle on the glass, introduce a thin pry card beneath the bezel, cut through the perimeter tape, and thread the flex cable out through the frame slot.

  10. 10

Step 10: Clean and Prepare the Housing

Scrape away all fragments of old adhesive and shattered glass from the chassis ledge using tweezers.

Wipe down the entire perimeter mounting channel with a lint-free cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol to ensure a level foundation.

  11. 11

Step 11: Test the Replacement Screen

Thread the new display flex through the chassis opening and plug it into the motherboard socket, then temporarily reconnect the battery.

Power the phone on to check touch response, brightness control, and color balance before applying permanent glue.

  12. 12

Step 12: Adhere the New Panel and Reassemble

Turn the device off and unplug the battery once more to finalize installation.

Lay fresh adhesive along the frame perimeter, seat the display firmly into position, reconnect all flex circuits, snap the midframe back into place, and secure the screws and back panel.

Frequently asked questions

No, screen replacement solely involves physical display hardware and does not alter the storage memory of the device. Even so, running a full backup prior to teardown remains good repair practice whenever the display still allows touch input.

A display assembly pre-installed in a new chassis frame significantly reduces repair time because it eliminates the need to scrape old glue and align bare glass. Bare panels require meticulous frame preparation to prevent light bleed or lifting edges later.

A blank screen usually points to an incompletely seated display flex cable or an unattached battery terminal. Disassemble the midframe, inspect the socket pins for debris or damage, reconnect the cables firmly until they click, and restart the device.

Apply wide strips of clear packing tape over the entire cracked screen surface before heating. The tape binds the tiny glass shards together, creating a safe, flat surface for your suction tool and protecting your eyes and fingers from flying glass splinters.

If you run into stuck components or do not feel confident handling delicate internal connectors, pause the process and submit an inquiry through KRON's contact form for expert support.
