Samsung Galaxy S26 FE Rear Camera Replacement

Moderate45–60 min11 steps

Replace the rear camera module if your Galaxy S26 FE exhibits blurry photos, persistent autofocus hunting, cracked internal lenses, or a "Warning: Camera Failed" system crash. This repair requires opening the phone through the rear glass, removing the wireless charging coil bracket, and swapping out the primary camera hardware. Patience and steady hands are required to avoid cracking the rear panel and to protect the internal motherboard circuitry.

Required Tools

  • Heat gun or heated pad
  • Suction cup handle
  • Thin plastic opening picks
  • Phillips #00 screwdriver
  • Plastic spudger
  • ESD-safe angled tweezers
  • Pre-cut replacement adhesive tape
  • Isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) and lint-free cleaning cloth

Step by step

  1. 1

Step 1: Power Off and Eject SIM

Shut down the smartphone entirely and remove the SIM card tray with an ejection pin to prevent mechanical interference during disassembly.

  2. 2

Step 2: Soften the Perimeter Adhesive

Heat the perimeter of the rear glass with a heat gun set to 80°C for two to three minutes to soften the factory adhesive gasket.

  3. 3

Step 3: Separate the Rear Glass

Apply a suction cup near the bottom edge, pull upward to create a slight gap, and slide a plastic pick between the glass and the aluminum frame.

Slice carefully around all edges without inserting the pick deeper than 4 mm.

  4. 4

Step 4: Remove the Back Panel

Lift the back cover slowly away from the chassis, taking care not to strain any internal contact points.

Clean off old adhesive remnants from both the frame and back cover using isopropyl alcohol.

  5. 5

Step 5: Detach the Upper Shield and NFC Coil

Unscrew the Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic top cover and the wireless charging antenna.

Gently pry up the clips holding the plastic bracket and lift the entire shield assembly out of the phone.

  6. 6

    Step 6: Disconnect the Battery

Use the flat edge of a non-conductive plastic spudger to pry the battery flex cable directly upward from its socket on the motherboard.

Disconnecting power immediately prevents electrical shorts during module handling.

  7. 7

Step 7: Disconnect the Camera Cables

Locate the press-fit connectors for the rear triple-camera assembly on the motherboard.

Gently lift each connector straight up with a plastic spudger to release it from the logic board.

  8. 8

Step 8: Extract the Damaged Camera Module

Use plastic tweezers to lift the camera housing out of its metal recess.

Avoid touching the camera sensors or the inner lens surfaces directly with bare fingers.

  9. 9

Step 9: Mount the New Camera Assembly

Align the replacement camera module into the frame cavity, ensuring the lenses seat square and flush.

Gently press down on each flex ribbon connector until you feel and hear a tactile snap.

  10. 10

Step 10: Reconnect Battery and Run Diagnostics

Plug the battery connector back in, position the top bracket temporarily, and power the device on.

Open the camera application to test autofocus, optical stabilization, 8K video capture, and switching between wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto modes.

  11. 11

Step 11: Secure the Shield and Reseal

Power the phone down, fasten all screws into the upper bracket, and lay down new pre-cut adhesive around the frame edge.

Press the back panel firmly down and maintain light, even pressure for 15 minutes to establish a tight seal.

Frequently asked questions

No, hardware camera replacements do not wipe internal storage, but creating a backup before opening the device is always recommended.

Yes, opening the factory seal compromises the original water barrier. While fresh replacement adhesive provides solid protection against dust and accidental splashes, the phone should no longer be submerged in water.

A buzzing sound usually points to an optical image stabilization failure or a module that is not seated flat in its bracket, allowing the motor to rattle against the frame. Verify the seating or exchange the part if the vibration persists.

The camera modules function normally without mandatory software locks, though running built-in Samsung hardware diagnostics in the service menu helps confirm proper sensor calibration.
