Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Housing Replacement

Difficult1.5–2.5 h10 steps

A full housing replacement is necessary when the frame is twisted, cracked, or severely gouged after a major impact. Because this repair requires a complete teardown and transplant of every sensitive internal component, patience and strict ESD safety are essential. Following this guide will restore structural integrity, proper thermal dissipation, and internal alignment to your device.

Required Tools

  • Heat gun or professional heating pad (set to 80°C)
  • Suction handle
  • Plastic pry tools and thin guitar picks
  • Precision Phillips #00 screwdriver
  • ESD-safe tweezers
  • 99% isopropyl alcohol
  • Pre-cut battery adhesive and perimeter display/back glass adhesive gaskets
  • Replacement housing frame

Step by step

  1. 1

Step 1: Power Down and Remove Accessories

Turn off the smartphone entirely and eject the SIM tray along with the S Pen from the bottom channel.

Storing these parts safely prevents structural snags and avoids short circuits during disassembly.

  2. 2

Step 2: Heat and Separate the Back Glass

Apply uniform heat around the rear glass perimeter at 80°C for 3 to 4 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction handle near the bottom edge, pull upward to create a slight gap, and insert a thin plastic pick to slice through the adhesive perimeter without scratching the internal wireless coil.

  3. 3

Step 3: Remove Upper Shields and Disconnect Battery

Unfasten the Phillips screws holding down the upper protective bracket and integrated wireless charging coil.

Carefully lift the bracket away, then immediately disconnect the battery ribbon cable with a plastic spudger to eliminate any live current on the mainboard.

  4. 4

Step 4: Disconnect Flex Ribbons and Remove Logic Board

Disconnect the display connector, lower sub-board interconnect cables, front camera flex, and 5G antenna lines from the mainboard.

Remove the logic board retaining screws and lift the motherboard out with the rear camera cluster intact, placing it on an anti-static mat.

  5. 5

Step 5: Disassemble Lower Sub-Board and Speaker Module

Remove the lower loudspeaker assembly screws and pop the speaker chamber out of the bottom chassis.

Disconnect the USB-C daughterboard, vibration motor, and antenna lines, then carefully unseat the sub-board.

  6. 6

Step 6: Extract the Battery Safely

Pull the integrated battery release tab steadily at a flat angle, or apply a few drops of 99% isopropyl alcohol around the battery cavity to weaken the adhesive.

Never pry with metallic tools or bend the battery pouch, as lithium-ion cells pose a severe thermal hazard if punctured.

  7. 7

    Step 7: Transplant Internal Peripherals

Transfer the S Pen sensor flex, earpiece speaker, volume/power button ribbons, and thermal graphite pads over to the new housing.

Verify that all tiny grounding clips and silicone microphone gaskets seat precisely into their designated chassis cutouts.

  8. 8

Step 8: Transplant Display Panel (If Using Bare Housing)

If your replacement chassis does not include a pre-installed screen, heat the display assembly to 80°C and slice through the front frame adhesive using thin plastic film.

Align and seat the display into the new chassis with fresh pre-cut adhesive, ensuring the flex cable passes cleanly through the frame slot.

  9. 9

Step 9: Install Internal Boards and Battery

Apply fresh adhesive strips to the battery bay and press the battery into place.

Reinstall the lower daughterboard, route the RF antenna cables along their guide channels, seat the main logic board, and reconnect all ribbon cables, securing the battery terminal connection last.

  10. 10

Step 10: Seal and Clamp the Housing

Screw down the wireless charging coil and protective brackets, then clean all residual adhesive from the rear cover.

Apply a new waterproof gasket to the frame rim, align the back cover, and apply light, even clamping pressure for 15 minutes to ensure a solid seal.

Frequently asked questions

The S Pen detection coil situated along the internal stylus silo must be transferred from the old housing. If this slim flex ribbon is torn or improperly seated, the phone cannot detect the presence or ejection of the pen.

A service frame with a pre-installed display and button flex cables is strongly recommended. Separating the ultra-thin AMOLED panel from a damaged frame without damaging the digitizer is extremely risky.

While using authentic pre-cut OEM adhesive seals provides strong protection against everyday moisture and dust, factory IP68 submersion ratings cannot be guaranteed in field repairs.

No software calibration is required as long as you migrate your original motherboard, biometric sensors, and camera modules without damaging their flex connectors.
