Repair Guides

Difficult1–2 h10 steps

A broken inner foldable display on your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE usually presents as dead pixels, a completely black screen, or a bleeding ink effect along the crease. Because the flexible AMOLED panel is extremely fragile, the most reliable repair method uses an OEM Service Pack where the new screen comes pre-installed in a metal frame. Expect a tedious process requiring you to transfer the motherboard, batteries, and smaller components from your old housing into the new assembly.

Required Tools

Precision Phillips screwdriver setPlastic spudger and guitar picksSuction cupHeat gun or heating padIsopropyl alcohol (high concentration)Fine-tipped tweezersAnti-static wrist strapPre-cut adhesive strips
  1. 1

    Heat the back glass panels

    • Apply gentle heat to the upper and lower back glass panels using a heat gun to soften the adhesive.
    • Place a suction cup on the glass to pull up slightly, and then insert a plastic pick into the gap to slice through the adhesive around the perimeter.
  2. 2

    Disconnect the batteries

    • Safety must always come first when working inside a smartphone.
    • Remove the protective metal shields covering the motherboard by unscrewing the Phillips screws, and then use a plastic spudger to disconnect both battery flex cables.
  3. 3

Remove the lower board and flex cables

    • Carefully disconnect the interconnect flex cables that bridge the top and bottom halves of the phone.
    • Unscrew and gently lift out the lower board containing the charging port and microphone.
  4. 4

    Extract the motherboard

    • Disconnect the camera cables and any remaining antenna wires attached to the main board.
    • Remove the securing screws and carefully lift the motherboard out of the upper housing using your fingers or a plastic spudger.
  5. 5

    Transfer the batteries

    • Apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol around the edges of both batteries to dissolve the strong factory adhesive.
    • Wait a couple of minutes before gently prying them out with a flat plastic tool, being extremely careful not to puncture the lithium-ion cells.
  6. 6

    Move the small components

    • Use tweezers to carefully transfer the vibration motor, earpiece speaker, and any small rubber gaskets from the old frame.
    • Proper placement of these tiny components in the new Service Pack frame is crucial for water resistance and functionality.
  7. 7

Install the logic boards into the new frame

    • Place the motherboard and lower sub-board into their respective slots in the new screen assembly.
    • Secure them with their original Phillips screws and reconnect the camera modules.
  8. 8

Seat the batteries and reconnect cables

    • Apply new adhesive strips to the battery compartments and press both batteries firmly into place.
    • Reconnect the interconnect flex cables between the two halves of the device, but leave the battery connectors unplugged until the very end.
  9. 9

    Test the new display

    • Snap the battery connectors into place and temporarily power on the device to ensure the new inner screen functions correctly.
    • Check the touch response and look for any display anomalies before proceeding to the final seal.
  10. 10

    Seal the back glass panels

    • Once you confirm the phone works perfectly, power it down and apply fresh pre-cut adhesive to the back of the frame.
    • Press the upper and lower glass panels firmly into place and apply gentle, even pressure for an hour to ensure a watertight seal.

FAQ

Can I replace just the flexible glass instead of the whole frame?

No, the inner screen is a complex bonded assembly of ultra-thin glass and an AMOLED panel. You must replace the entire screen module to ensure the phone works correctly.

Will my phone still be water-resistant after this repair?

Water resistance is always compromised once a device is opened. Using high-quality pre-cut adhesive and carefully transferring all rubber gaskets will give you the best chance of maintaining some moisture protection.

Why is my new screen flickering green?

A green flickering display usually indicates a damaged flex cable or an improperly seated motherboard connector. Double-check all your connections and ensure no cables were pinched during reassembly.

What should I do if the batteries will not budge?

Never use metal tools or excessive force to pry out a battery. Apply a little more isopropyl alcohol to dissolve the adhesive and wait a few more minutes before trying again with a plastic tool.
